GAM Members, 

We are very pleased to officially launch the GAM Operational Excellence (“OE”) Council. The OE Council combines the existing Workforce / Plant Management and Safety & Health Councils and expands their collective mission to meet the current and future needs of GAM members. 

Establishing the OE Council 

GAM continues to completely transform its operations to become more “Visible, Vocal and Vital” for our members. All of these efforts are designed with one over-arching goal in mind: To deliver more value to our members. Over the past year, we have relaunched our Councils in the areas of Tax, Energy, Environmental Quality and Legislative / Public Policy, each with a new member-centered focus to help GAM accomplish its mission of representing Georgia manufacturers with effectiveness and integrity. 

For the past several months, with input from our members, we have been reviewing and considering the impact and effectiveness of our efforts in the areas of human resources, plant management, workforce, operations, safety and health and related areas. GAM has a long history of working with our members in these areas through the annual Workforce Seminar, Safety Conference and council meetings. GAM has been a critical connecting hub between members, experts and others as our members have constantly tried to achieve operational excellence in multiple areas. 

We are confident we can build on this great history and deliver even more as an Association and as an industry – not just with an annual signature OE event, but with regular and substantive content delivery throughout the year. The OE challenges our members face continue to multiply in number and complexity and GAM can and should be an essential resource to help members navigate those challenges. We have numerous engaged members with OE expertise, including subject-matter experts who work for our Manufacturing members and our Associate members who contribute so much to help guide the industry. The time is now to channel that energy and those talents to transform GAM’s role in supporting OE.

Inaugural OE Council Meeting 

The new OE Council will meet officially for the first time via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday, July 10 at 10:00 a.m. We expect the meeting to last no more than an hour and to cover the following agenda topics: 

- Establishing Council leadership 

- Reviewing, modifying (if need be) and approving the charter (Click here to view the charter)

- Discussion of the 2025 OE Signature event – seeking member input on timing, location, format 

- Organizing the Council’s Engagement Plan for continued content delivery throughout the year.
